We’ve rounded up 5 stories from around the web that are sure to bring a smile to your face!

This week the world watches as thousands of athletes take to the stage at the Paralympics – but even before the games began, there were a couple of truly heart-warming stories to report on…

1. One British paralympian's brother raised money to make sure he could compete in the Rio Paralympics.

Twenty-three year old Miles Gilliver, a ballet dancer, helped raise the funds for his brother Piers to qualify for the games with a galevening. Piers was told aged 11 he’d never walk again – 10 years on and he’s the world number one in his sport of wheelchair epee.

Go Piers! We’ll be rooting for you!

David Stevens, wish dad and fundraiser

David Stevens writes about his special son Tylor, who tragically died when he was 17 years old after battling heart problems. Tylor's spirit for life has inspired David to take on a huge swimming challenge in his memory.

Tylor – my inspiration

I’m swimming Windermere in memory of my son Tylor, on what would have been his 21st birthday.

Record breaking summer header

We’ve had a record-breaking couple of months here at Make-A-Wish!

In July we granted 125 wishes to incredibly brave children - that’s the most we’d ever granted in a month.  Until August… when we granted even more – and managed to make 130 dreams come true for seriously ill children. That works out as about 4 wishes happening every day!

We’ve also had a very high number of seriously ill children turning to us to have their wishes granted. In August, 223 families contacted us to apply for a wish – that’s 7 different children per day wanting a wish. Find out how you can help make them all come true.
