I wish to own a spa pool

Jasmine now has her spa pool! Thanks to all her kind supporters.

Jasmine, aged 15 from the New Forest District, is living with severe epilepsy as well as autism.

Jasmine had a fit on the day she was born and has continued to have seizures growing up. The seizures caused her to lose some basic skills such as walking, talking and feeding herself. She had to re-learn these basic skills a number of times and became so exhausted that she stopped talking for 18 months. The ordeal that Jasmine goes through every day has made her a strong little lady. Her mum describes her as funny, a joker and a little monkey who loves to wind people up! Her strength has also been recognised at the Young Epilepsy Champion Awards as she won a Rising Star award to recognise her ability to deal with her epilepsy and for overcoming significant personal challenges.

While staying with a friend last year, whose child had a spa pool wish granted by Make-A-Wish, Jasmine gave it a try. Her experience in the spa pool was so transformational that mum Nikki knew instantly she needed one for her little girl. After spending time in the pool, Jasmine said it was the best that she had felt and that evening she slept through the night without fitting, which is rare for her, especially in a new environment.

Thanks to her supporters, Jasmine’s wish to have her own spa pool was granted in August 2017. Wishgranter Jamie arranged for Hot Tub Warehouse to install the spa pool, and Nikki says they were fantastic. “They knew exactly what we needed and left no stone unturned in getting it right.” Jasmine and her mum got straight in after it was installed, and Jasmine jumped straight in the next morning too! She and Nikki have their own special luxury towelling robes and spa slippers – pink for Jasmine and purple for Nikki.

Regular fits can leave Jasmine feeling like she’s run a marathon, so climbing into the warm, soothing water not only relaxes her muscles, but calms her mind too. Nikki says that the spa pool has given her real quality time with her daughter, “it takes Jasmine’s mind off everything and she just laughs with me – her autism means her behaviour can sometimes be challenging, but the spa pool gives her a release and relaxes her, she’s happy when she’s in it and it’s a lasting effect.”

Jasmine is now looking forward to applying to train as a hairdresser at college, and is looking at taking up photography, as she loves snapping pictures of everything around her.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated to help make Jasmine’s wish possible! To donate to wishes like Jasmine’s click here.
